Instagram API media errors and how to fix them

Checked against Meta's docs on 10 October 2026

When an agent publishes to Instagram through the Graph API, Instagram downloads the media from a URL. These are the errors that come from the file or that URL, as opposed to tokens, permissions or rate limits.

SubcodeCodeError
22070529004Media could not be fetched from this URI
220700936003Image aspect ratio cannot be published
2207026352Video format is not supported
220700436000Image is too large to download
220700536001Image format is not supported
2207003-2It takes too long to download the media

postcache hosts the file at a public URL, checks it against these rules before Instagram fetches it, and can convert it so it passes. See the API docs.
